Girl Genius

The third volume of Girl Genius recounts the second half of Agatha's adventures aboard the Castle Wulfenbach. Beginning with Agatha's first conversation with Krosp, this volume ends with Agatha and Othar Tryggvassen leaving the castle in an airship — and Othar leaving the airship. In between, we find out considerably more about Baron Klaus Wulfenbach, meet Bangladesh DuPree and discover time windows, deactivate a fencing clank, encounter the terror of an activated Hive engine and find out that for all of Gilgamesh Wulfenbach's brilliance in other fields, sometimes he's just a dork.

This volume provides considerable background material for the current-day situation in Europa and the wars in the immediate past, as well as an infuriating tease into Agatha's far future. Agatha's suppressed Spark finally gets to bloom through the creation of the Dingbots and the Rescue Clank, and most of the last tattered remnants of the awkward, inept student vanish as the bold, brave and heroic young Spark strides forth into the unknown.

The story in this volume is covered in the novel Agatha H. and the Airship City.
