Anyone have any comments for Offer of design assistance? Argadi 23:40, November 13, 2011 (UTC)
Okay, so either I was wrong that the "missing" units were suffering from the DOOOM, or their ship is so high up and far out that it took a long time to reach them. Huge distances cause huge delays between seeing something and hearing it. And pretty much every Girl Genius reader with any powers of obsrvation is correct that the Doom Bell signals permission for the Jägers to return. Now we get to the good part of the fight! ~Mysteria Femina~ (talk • Avatar wall) 03:06, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
And they knew when it was coming as they timed their attacks. Der Kestle clearly was communicating with the Jaegers, most likely at Mama Gkika's. AndyAB99 11:12, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
I think the Jägers took out the other units on their own. General Zog knows sneaky stuff. I am shocked! {C} Rej¿¤¤? 03:49, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
Orrr it could be what Rej said... [Mysteria shrugs] ~Mysteria~ (talk) 03:57, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
{C}It is definitely what Poe said. To the moaning and the groaning of the bells! -- Billy Catringer 06:09, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
Wow, Jorgi is quite a character. I am looking forward to seeing more of him. Add a dastardly clever field commander to Agatha's personal retinue, hey? Slowness 10:46, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
{C}I hope that one technician in the front right is okay. I imagine communication relay techs have very sensitive hearing. —jdreyfuss 12:57, {C}November 14, 2011 (UTC)
{C}Nice area of effect on the bell I would calculate it to at least a 2km Radius probability more. Based on the time between they lost communication whit the closer units and the time the sound reached them, if it wasn’t the jägers that stopped the troop and that the effect reached them at all. I dont think we can trust any time calculations here in Foglioland Agathahetrodyne 17:56, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
- I agree! Especially since the Doom Bell seems to have some sparky qualities to it, there's no telling what it can do or how it does it. Other than having some very apparent negative effects on people who have never heard it before (Agatha excluded) there's no telling what else it might do. And there's no telling what Jorgi and his sidekick are up to next either! --Kobold0racle 19:59, November 14, 2011 (UTC)
Rather, I think we are being given the reverberations of the bell. The time the bell rings is the same for everyone (if you take the speed of sound and distance into account). The Foglios are just playing back everyones moments before and after the bell rings so we get the full effect. I was actually a little disappointed with the first two page spread because after all of the lead up it was over so quickly. Some events you just have to spend time with. This style works well to increase the sense of importance. I wonder how long they can keep us in this moment?

- The time delay we are referring to is the distance-induced delay implied if those "missing" units aren't responding because they have already been hit by the bell, not the delay in pages. I think it's already clear to most of us that the Foglios are showing everyone moments before the DOOOM and their reactions immediately after it reaches them. ~Mysteria~ (talk) 02:06, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
- Given that the Foglios don't seem to be all that precise in mapping anything, I'm not sure a timing delay is what they had in mind here. There can be other reasons for losing communication with various units. The Doom Bell could be the reason, but anything that disrupts the comm-link works. The units themselves do not need to be disabled. Perhaps the Jaegers boarding other Heliolux ships prior to the flagship. Jorgi's subordinate reports the rest of the fleet being secured rathered quickly. AndyAB99 02:34, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't say that a distance-delay is what the Foglios intended, I said it's what we users mean when we talk about a time delay vs how Rej seems to have interpreted it as a page-delay. And I agree that we have no concrete evidence as to what the Foglio's truly have in mind. Like Agathaheterodyne said, we can't trust the Foglios to be scientifically accurate given the precedent they've set. ~Mysteria~ (talk) 04:14, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
The curly-haired blonde in panel 5 has a sigil that looks like a little golden angel. --- SpareParts 00:45, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
- It's the Wulfenbach sigil, so it's not an angel. Sorry to disappoint you. ~Mysteria~ (talk) 02:06, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
hasenpfeffer and spätzle are both things to eat. should this be mentioned somewhere in the wiki? Finn MacCool 01:04, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
- We'd have to find a page where it fits. Perhaps under something that talks about Jäger humor or Girl Genius cuisine? I don't know the Wiki like the back of my hand yet, so I don't know exactly where this information belongs. ~Mysteria~ (talk) 02:06, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
{C}This also confirms our guess that Jagers aren't affected by the Doom Bell at all. Well at least not negatively. :)Naraht 15:27, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
What is the green Jäger in the 4th panel crunching in his hand? Xelvonar 19:35, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
- The commander's sidearm. She either reached for it or pulled it in the first panel. —jdreyfuss 19:49, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
- Ah yes. I see it now. And its Jorgi doing the crunching, not the other Jäger. Xelvonar 22:36, November 15, 2011 (UTC)
I just realized I've been mistaken in my naval rank insignia recognition. The woman in command of the ship is a first lieutenant, not a commander. —jdreyfuss 13:07, November 16, 2011 (UTC)
