MostImpressive

Impressive, indeed!

"Your Highness?" What layer of secrecy is about to be revealed now? 20px-1298786.png Rej¿¤¤? 05:29, January 20, 2012 (UTC) {C}

Most likely one we already suspected: Gil is probably Zeetha's brother, which would make him Skifandrian royalty. This is not the first in-canon hint at the possibbility. ~Mysteria~ (talk) 05:34, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
you mean "brother", right?^^ Finn MacCool 13:08, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
*facepalm* Dangit! Yes, I meant brother. I was really tired when I wrote that. ~Mysteria~ (talk) 03:29, January 21, 2012 (UTC)

I will once again make a lightning rod of myself and say that Gil most likely has a better claim to the Storm King's throne than Tarvek does. Europa is much like Europe was under the Merovingian Franks. The Franks followed Salic law when it came to inheritance. Tarvek's claim to the throne obtains from the distaff side, something that Salic law only permits under very extraordinary circumstances. Now then, do not bother complaining to me that I cannot possibly know that Salic law is in anyway applicable to things Europan, because I already know that i cannot make an airtight case for it. I will only agree with you on that point. I will argue, however, that my feel for the sense of story all but demands such a development in the plot. -- Billy Catringer 07:16, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

I think Bang would have a thing for Tarvek over Gil. Unterwald 07:07, January 20, 2012 (UTC)
I still believe that Gil is Tarvek's brother (remember that whole colour-changing illness sequence where we were continually shown them side-by-side). Therefore, even if Tarvek is the rightful Storm King, Gil is still "Your Highness". Re Wednesday's, I also think that Bang is truly in love with the Baron, but I expect it's unrequited. So Bang did find a way to stick a knife in his –. It just wasn't in the way either of them expected. —jdreyfuss 12:58, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

In my opinion Gil Is Zeetha's brother, it makes sense The Baron was shipped out of county in a box to skilandia by Lucreazia right after she told him she was marrying Bill Heterodyne, and wanted him out of the way, and The Baron did mention not seeing his wife for years. [unsigned comment]

Also, when someone asked the Foglios for a sketch of Chump--Zeetha's father--they got a drawing of Klaus in jungle clothes. ~Mysteria~ (talk) 03:29, January 21, 2012 (UTC)
There is Klaus' warning to Gil, then Gils' reaction to Zeetha and her reaction. When introducing herself, she emphasizes "Chump", with a big grin. Somehow, Zeetha's reaction here seems different than the others. My opinion, but she seems to be acting like a big sister to a kid brother. And the clincher for Zeetha. Oh Bang. You are clearly the best character. Synalon Etuul 02:42, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

I'm inclined to agree with Billy Catringer, Gil's being the Storm King is foreshadowed here, the geneology is addressed at the bottom of the page here, where we also see Zola offering a minor political quibble, which the Baron disposes of in the middle of this page. Klaus does not follow the "laws" of the fifty families. No powerful monarch does, because who's going to make them? Enforcement of the law, uniformly, across class, is the reason democracies arose and exist. Tyrants can enforce or ignore any law they wish, as Klaus demostrates. The 'law' Mr. Catringer speaks of is more about Tradition than actual enforcible legal practice. Tarvek can state that he is "The Storm King" until he is blue in face but if he can't actually rule from the lightning throne then is he is just someone with a fancy, self-proclaimed title.
