Othar and Zola -- related?

Othar Tryggvassen (Gentleman Adventurer!) and Zola la Sirene d’Or may not have the same last name, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say they’re related.
While Othar is a Spark and Zola’s shown no tendencies to be one, consider the similarities:
- They both appear to be buffoons. Othar has shown himself to be remarkably clueless, and Gil needed to save Zola over and over again, including at least once pulling her head out of a bucket.
- But both have proven to have a deadly, ruthless side. Othar is out to wipe out every last Spark in the world including himself, and Zola showed no compunction in shooting Veilhat and Cucaracha.
- Neither gives up very easily. Falling out of airships is a ho-hum event for Othar, and even with her army wiped out and her original plan shot, Zola is still looking for a way to complete her mission, first after thinking only she and Gil survived the Happy Fun Ball of Death, then now by escaping from Gil and Agatha.
So on those three traits, I’m willing to take a risk and assert that the two are related. Of course, Gil knew them both in Paris – but did they know each other? If they knew each other and they’re related, did they know they’re related, or did they hide it? I’m looking forward to learning more about Gil’s time in Paris, although I suspect the Foglios will need lots of sepia ink for this.
And if Othar and Zola aren’t related … well, wouldn’t they make a lovely couple? --Oarboar 17:27, October 16, 2009 (UTC)
- They can be defenestrated as a couple! ^.^ -- Lissa's Thinker 01:58, October 24, 2009 (UTC)
