The original The Secret Blueprints, Vol. I was published in ashcan comic-book format in 2001 as Issue #0. Other volumes were to follow, but with the change to web format, and the contract with Steve Jackson Games to create the Girl Genius RPG, the concept was changed to make the gaming reference essentially The Secret Blueprints, Vol. II.
