This is a list of places where a character indicates that they might prefer death to their immediate fate.
- Dr. Beetle: Probably doesn’t quite count —although he does say “I’ll never submit to that!” ✣ when Klaus says that he will not kill Beetle, but has a use for him— but does set the mood by winding up dead immediately after that.
- Moloch: Generally Moloch prefers to live, but early on he said that he wouldn't rule out throwing himself out of a window ✣ to escape Castle Wulfenbach.
- Mr. Rovainen: Implies the life of a revenant is a fate worse than death when he “spares” ✣ Dr. Vg.
- Agatha: “Kill me first.” ✣ Rather than be wasped.
- Gil gives Moloch the option, ✣ but Moloch recoils in horror.
- Olga: Probably hyperbolic and moot in any case, but Countess Marie claims that if Olga weren’t already dead, she’d have killed herself to play this part ✣ (fooling Baron Klaus Wulfenbach).
- Da Boyz: Maxim: “She's gunna keel us, hyu know.” Dimo: “Ve should get off so easy. ... Hey! ... Maybe ve gets lucky! Mebbe ve be dead by the time she gets here!” ✣
- Othar: Why do I think I’d prefer to be killed? ✣
- Oublenmach: Yes, please. ✣ —In response to Mamma Gkika asking Arella, “Hyu vants I should keel him now?”
- Vole: Mebbee hyu could just keel me instead? ✣
