The Clockwork Pantalettes is apparently a play by Feydeau wherein the old "bring her family back from the grave" gambit is used but that is such a cliche that it didn't help it escape awful reviews. Clearly, this is a case of life imitating art—bad art, but art just the same.

Possibly relevant real-world information Edit

Georges Feydeau (1862–1921) was a French playwright, the author of over 60 farces. Wikipedia says, "Though critics at the time dismissed Feydeau's works as light entertainment, he is now recognized as one of the great French playwrights of his era. His plays are seen today as precursors of Surrealist and Dada theatre, and the Theatre of the Absurd." None of his actual titles refer to clockwork or undergarments.
