Main Content
This is the top category. All articles and all other categories should be contained within this one.

  • Arts and Letters
Works of art, literature, and scholarship belonging to the world of Girl Genius.
    • Heterodyne stories
The popular fiction of Girl Genius' Europa, Heterodyne stories feature the adventures of Bill and Barry (and their allies and enemies. While the first stories were ostensibly based on the actual facts, there is by now a whole slew based on legend and outright fabrication. Bill and Barry aren't just historical figures, they're characters. Many of these works are performed as plays.
    • Music
Music, musicians, and how they affect the world of Agatha Heterodyne.

  • Characters
Characters in the Girl Genius universe.
    • Characters by Residence
Exactly what it says on the box: Categories that list characters based on where they live or have lived. Or unlive.
    • Characters by Story
A supercategory to make the Category tree easier to navigate. This will include the categories dealing with characters as sorted by story/canon location.
    • Constructs
All creatures created by Mad Science are considered constructs. There are many different kinds, made by many different Sparks. These are the ones we know something about.
      • Jägermonsters
Jägermonsters named in the story. Most are on the side of the Good Guys; one... isn't.
        • Wild Jägers
A subset of Jägerkin. Also, a real bunch of characters.
      • Monsters
Monster is as monster does. This category is reserved for that particular subset of the Constructs category that, by their behavior, demonstrate themselves to be, well, monstrous. Note that Jägermonsters are not members of this category, names notwithstanding; Jägers are downright soft and cuddly compared to some of the things appearing here.
    • Families
Some of Europa's families have had a disproportionate amount influence on the world. Or, seeing as most of the important families regularly produce strong sparks, the only thing disproportionate has been their level of Madness.
      • Heterodyne
Although the Heterodynes best known to history are evidently those that have served as the head of the family, termed "The Heterodyne", any proper member of the family (by blood, marriage, or adoption; not fealty or ownership) may be a member of this category.
        • Heterodyne minions
Heterodyne minions are those who serve House Heterodyne or its individual members. For some, it's a traditional family calling; for others, they just get dragged along in the wake.
        • Heterodyne stories
The popular fiction of Girl Genius' Europa, Heterodyne stories feature the adventures of Bill and Barry (and their allies and enemies). While the first stories were ostensibly based on the actual facts, there is by now a whole slew based on legend and outright fabrication. Bill and Barry aren't just historical figures, they're characters. Many of these works are performed as plays.
      • Mongfish
Family of Villains, it seems. At least, last generation's Mongfish were. This generation seems to be turning out more positively.
      • Sturmvoraus
Sturmvoraus is the family name of the ruling Princes of Sturmhalten.
      • Valois
Valois is a name of French origin belonging to a royal family line of at least a few centuries' duration in western Europa. The best-known member is Andronicus Valois, the Storm King. Tarvek Sturmvoraus is the current Valois heir through his mother, according to him and the Knights of Jove.

Members of the von Mekkhan family.

Wulfenbach is the name of a family of Transylvanian minor nobility with a great amount of Sparky ability.
    • Legendary Characters
These characters all have a number of stories told about them, many of which are not necessarily so. Characters in this category may have any of their exploits, and in some cases even their existence, seriously questioned for veracity.
    • Living Impaired Characters
Those characters, who by age, misfortune or other circumstances are no longer considered "among the living". Remember, there are no such things' as vampires.
    • Main Characters
The lead players in our merry tale of continental mayhem. The contents are likely to vary as history unfolds.
    • Master Payne's Performers
Performers, crew, and other characters associated with Master Payne's Circus of Adventure.
    • Minions
Minions are characters who have a Sparky master (or mistress; this is Girl Genius, after all). Many constructs have a loyalty imperative to their creator built in, and ordinary people may hold loyalties for any number of reasons including having succumbed to their strange charisma, but beyond those cases this term is ill-defined — opinions vary on whether disobedient servants, or someone who has no real choice in whom to serve, ought to qualify. For more discussion, see the relevant Forum.
    • Revenants
Individuals who are infected by slaver wasps and are thus under the control of the Other are termed revenants.
    • Royalty
Members or heads of royal families.

Current and former faculty (and staff) of Transylvania Polygnostic University, which article has a listing of their positions as well.
    • Undepicted characters
These characters have been mentioned one or more times but have not been depicted, especially not in the canon, or if they have, the depiction has not been identified, leaving the reader ignorant. The lack of depiction may or may not be significant.
    • Villains
Evildoers and opponents in the 'verse.

  • Chronology
The history of Girl Genius is complex. These articles may help keep the order of events straight.

Note: discussion titles are automatically created via links from the Chronology pages.

    • Polls
To make a new poll for the main page, create a new article in this category using an existing poll as an example, then replace the old poll name with the new one on the main page. Make sure the current poll has had sufficient time on the main page so that everyone may have a chance to respond. Discuss polls in the Watercooler forum or on the talk page for this category.

  • Inventions
Anything created by a Sparky mind, including Devices, Constructs and Clanks - and that which can't be as neatly categorized.
    • Clanks
Mechanical beings of various states of self-consciousness.
    • Devices
Mechanical things, particularly those made by a Spark, other than Clanks, which get their own category. Constructs, Sparky things with biological rather than mechanical origins, also get their own category (Category:Constructs, reasonably enough).
      • Airships
Lighter-than-air craft are an important means of transportation, both military and civilian. Heavier-than-air craft are a recent and so far minor development.
      • Non-Airship Vehicles
Whether it has gyro wheels, piston legs, a tar-sealed hull, a spinning screw-bore bow or a just pair of axels with iron-tyred wagon-wheels, it gets referenced here as long as it doesn't primarily float in the air as well.
      • Tools
Tools are to Sparks as paintbrushes were to Van Gogh: a means of preposterously creative self-expression, tinged with more than a little bit of madness. Herein are categorized some of the offbeat tools appearing in the story.
      • Weapons
Means of dealing death and destruction, or worse. Some weapons are devices (i.e., mechanically-based), while others are constructs (i.e., biologically-based). One could probably make a case that Jägermonsters are weapons (after all, they're constructs), but that would probably be pushing it, so Jägers have a category of their own. Many but not all Clanks are weapons.
    • Pharmaceuticals
Preparations intended to treat a disordered condition rather than meet a natural need.

  • Lists
Articles whose main content is lists of information. These tend to be great reference-book-like material, if a bit dry.
    • Cast Lists by Volume
The articles below contain a list of all characters who have appeared in each published volume, along with notable pages and special notes on their appearances. Well, that's the idea anyway. Please help out by checking these articles for accuracy and making your own edits!

  • Meta
Content breaking the fourth wall, including analyses and deconstructions.

Also, categories and articles about that which relates to
Girl Genius as a published work, and the wiki itself.

See also Help:Contents and the Help desk forum for more technical assistance.
    • Antidisambiguation
This category contains REDIRECT pages that are intentionally created with titles that are a common name of some well-known entity. These common names are presumed always to refer to the redirect target, or else they would be disambiguation pages rather than REDIRECT. For instance, so far "Agatha" — especially unqualified — in the Girl Genius universe always refers to "Agatha Heterodyne", likewise "Klaus" and "the Baron" with respect to Baron Klaus Wulfenbach. If they were categorized (with the same categories as their targets), these pages would also have the effect of creating permuted index partial entries in the respective categories, but this has been determined to be undesirable.

If future events render one of the names below ambiguous (for instance, if a Jäger named Boris shows up) please convert it (i.e., convert http://girlgenius.wikia.com/wiki/Boris?action=edit) to a disambiguation page.
    • Articles with "Mad" counterparts
Articles on this wiki sometimes have a Mad counterpart. These articles contain all theories, reasonable and wild, on a particular subject, as well as links to outside sources and topics of discussion. See Baron Klaus Wulfenbach/Mad for one example.
    • Articles with unsourced statements
This category contains articles in need of sources to verify statements made. To add a page to this category, add {{fact}} following the statement in question.
    • Candidates for speedy deletion

See Template:Delete for how to move items to this list.
      • Featured Projects
This is a list of all present and past projects that have featured on the main page. To suggest a new project, edit the talk page for this category. New projects must be added manually to the main page.
    • Dangerous Experiments
These articles require editing for content. They may need checks for spelling, grammar, or speculative statements. They are included in this category automatically when tagged with the {{cleanup}} template.
    • Disambiguation pages
This is a list of all disambiguation pages within the wiki. See also Special:disambiguations for all pages that link to these pages (and likely need to have a link fixed).
    • Fan Terminology
Fan terminology comes about during discussion in the various fora such as the Yahoo! group, the LiveJournal page echo and here when a person or item becomes significant in the story but is not canonically labelled. In order to avoid such awkwardness as "Lucrezia after she was downloaded into a clank head and attached to Anevka's body", portmanteau names such as "Lunevka" are coined.

Images belonging to articles in the Geography category.
      • Heraldry
The Heraldry of Girl Genius seems to center around the sigils of each ruling house, although some more standard Coats of Arms are seen as well.
      • Secret Blueprints Images
        Illustrations from the Secret Blueprints.
      • Images for Site Design
Images for use in layout and design of the wiki itself.
      • Sketches
The Professora has intermittently shared copies of the many, many random sketches lying about in Studio files. She has warned that most of them were for self-amusement and to take any inferrences drawn from them with a copious amount of salt. However, in some cases, these might be the only depictions we have of some mentioned characters, or unique takes on their look in development, and are definitely worth a look.
      • User Images
All images for use within the User: namespace should be put in this category. As with all other images on this wiki, please observe copyrights and Wikia rules.

      • Abstractions
Concepts or ideas that are important in the world of Girl Genius.
        • Language

        • Poor ideas
Even smart people produce the occasional epic fail.

          See also this sketch.
        • Religion
Although the Professors have avoided addressing religion directly in the story, due to the potential volatility of the subject, some sort of metaphysical structure - or the lack of one - is a vital part of any culture. Since Agatha's world is parallel to post-Renaissance Europe, some echoes of religious influence will crop up now and then. This category attempts to collect those for further pondering.

If you can tell one Geister from another, you can put them in a group.
          • Greek Mythology

      • Comestibles
"Food" that has appeared, whether central to the plot or included merely for atmosphere.
    • Outside World
Things relevant to the story, but not part of it. This is the category for fan sites, forums, livejournals, and information on the books themselves.
    • Pages with too many expensive parser function calls
A page is automatically placed in this category when the wiki software notices the page is expensive to render.
